LODGE FACILITIES

Main Lodge and patio. Pictures of the accommodation.

Lodge facilities

The comfortable lodge is situated on an escarpment fringe overlooking the Liverpool and Tomkinson River Valleys. You can choose between safari tent accommodation and purpose-designed, large, comfortable and breezy deluxe cabins. The deluxe cabins have spacious en suite bathrooms and a small bar fridge offer a taste of luxury in an otherwise remote and unspoiled environment. The main lodge includes a large, kitchen/dining area, a bar and tasteful dining decor overlooking the river valley.

A recent edition is a 96 square metre decked patio extending out over the escarpment precipice. Delightfully shaded, it provides a spectacular vista and sunset viewing while you enjoy a cool drink.

Communication

The lodge has a phone and fax for emergencies only as well as satellite phones in each boat. Our Darwin office can be contacted on ph: 08 8983 1544, fax: 08 8983 1914, email: barralodge@hotspot.com.au

Meals and special diets

Sumptuous meals will be cooked by our experienced chef. There will be plenty of opportunities to eat fresh fish and mud crabs. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements please let us know as soon as possible.

Drinks

The Lodge's local water is not only suitable for drinking but it may well be the best H2O you have ever tasted.

Soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are provided. Please note that guests are not permitted to carry alcohol into the community of Maningrida.

What to take

  • Lightweight, comfortable clothing to fish in, lightweight shoes such as sports shoes or deck shoes, perhaps sandals for the evenings.
  • A wide-brimmed or neck-shoulder-covering hat and quality polarised sunglasses.
  • A camera to photograph the spectacular wildlife, scenery and of course your catches.
  • Sunblock tube.
  • Any prescription medications, toiletries (soap, linen and towels provided).

NB. Beautifully-embroided Barra Lodge long-sleeve cotton fishing shirts and smart short-sleeve casual dress cotton shirts can be purchased on site (A$70.00 each). Fishing shirts have mesh-lined cooling vents and velcro storage pockets; casual shirts have twin, large velcro pockets and can also be worn fishing. Please order your shirts in advance to ensure we have your size available at the Lodge.

Insects

Although there can be mosquitoes about in the evenings the Lodge and cabins are completely insect screened.
